| This performance is paying humble homage to a Korean woman, Kim Sundok, one of the former "comfort women" or a sex slave of the Imperial Japanese Army during the World War II. This is also an objection against current climate in Japanese society; the nation-state seems like preparing for another war in spite of its war-renouncing constitution. As Japanese, I should never forget the sexual violence by the army which totally devastated Kim Sundok's life. Still now, every Wednesday, there are women standing in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul Korea, asking the Japanese government for apology and compensation to the former "comfort women." Through this performance, I want to jointly struggle for justice. It is not history but current. (ITO Tari) 1995年日本軍「慰安婦」だったハルモニたちの絵画巡回展を見て、強い衝撃を受けた。 彼女たちの悔しさ、怒り、憤りを受け止めたい。 日本政府は彼女たちに謝罪と補償を未だ行なってはいない。 強制連行の末に、戦地に置き去りにされた多くのハルモニの存在が伝えられている。（イトー） |
